![]() ![]() Charleston, SC-based musicians Jimmy Tatum and Frank Lee Johnson are The Turn Signals, an acoustic duo that perform an eclectic variety of original and cover tunes. The Turn Signals made their debut Oct. 4, 2008 at the Goose Creek Music Festival before a crowd of over 1,000 people. Since then, they have performed over 40 dates in restaurants, bars and music festivals across South Carolina. In April of 2009, the Turn Signals made their first CD, "Happy New Year," which features 9 original songs and is for sale at all gigs. The Turn Signals earned a spot in the line-up of Camden, S.C.'s 2009 Jammin In July Music Festival last summer. In October 2009, they played at the Coastal Carolina Fair in Ladson. Other venues played in 2009 include Coconut Joe's on the Isle of Palms, Gilligan's on Market Street in Charleston, the Boykin Grill in Boykin, and Plum's in Beaufort. Jimmy Tatum is a self-described "singer, scribbler, and half-fast guitarist" with two decades of experience playing music all over South Carolina and Georgia, most recently with the band Sometimes Y from Camden. He has recorded two CDs in the last 10 years, "Lost in the Bush"(1998) with the Chameleons and "Crashing Your Party" (2002) with Fatt Daddy Johnson. His influences include Eric Clapton, Peter Green, Muddy Waters, Mark Knopffler, John Cippolina and Steve Miller. Frank Lee Johnson has performed a unique range of original songs across South Carolina for the past 10 years. The singer/songwriter’s influences include Kris Kristofferson, Townes Van Zandt and John Prine. His first CD, "Keep Your Shirt On," (2003) includes 10 original songs. |
